Julio is currently an MPhil student at the University of Mauritius under the supervision of Dr Heeralall-Issur. His work will be focusing on the Study of Bright Southern Transient Radio Sources, especially on Fast Radio Burst analyses by using machine learning and deep learning techniques.
Prior to the MPhil DARA scholarship, Julio participated to the DARA 2017-18 basic training programme. He also studied at the University of Antananarivo, Madagascar where he obtained an MSc in astronomy and astrophysics. His master thesis final project was about “Near infrared observations of super star clusters” where the main goal is to determine the dependencies of super star cluster properties to their host galaxy.
Upon completion of the MPhil, Julio intends to undertake a PhD and Postdoc in radio astronomy. He also wants to contribute to the development of radio astronomy in Africa and his country throughout AVN and the SKA.
