The third CHPC – DARA computer training was hosted by University of Antananarivo in Madagascar from 12 to 16 February 2018. The course syllabus is the same as delivered in Maputo and Nairobi. The course was delivered by scientists from CHPC in South Africa: Dr Krishna Govender; Dr John Poole; and Dr Daniel Moeketsi. The event was attended by DARA Students enrolled for masters and doctoral studies in field of Astrophysics, Geophysics and Chemistry at University of Antananarivo. It’s important to mention that these students study from home and only come to University for consulting with their study leaders. Most students had background of Linux and some programming languages such C++ and FORTRAN. The students were working mostly independently. The Lecturers could cover more topics relevant for Radio Astronomy data processing and analysis than in the past trainings. The next computer training is scheduled for DARA Students from the Botswana, Zambia, and Namibia cohort at HartRAO, South Africa from 26 February to 2 March 2018.
