The first DARA Unit 4 Basic Training Workshop at Mozambique was held at Eduardo Mondlane University (EMU), in Maputo, from June 18, 2018 to June 29, 2018. Dalmiro Maia from the University of Porto in Portugal, and Sarrvesh Sridhar from ASTRON in the Netherlands, taught the fundamentals of Radio-astronomy, with an emphasis on imaging through interferometry techniques, and a focus on Very Long Baseline Interferometry, to a group of nine very enthusiastic Mozambican attendees.

This training event was co-sponsored by the EU 'Jumping JIVE' project which is facilitating and supporting the participation of expert lecturers from multiple EU institutes in the DARA programme. This EU project is also funding a number further opportunities for training and education in both Africa and the EU.  The JUMPING JIVE project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 730884
